Yarn Swap & Program Planning for Year

At our January meeting, we plan the programs for our monthly meetings for the remainder of the year.  Bring your ideas on chapter programs you would like to teach, and crochet stitches and techniques you would like to learn.

Our January meeting is also our annual yarn swap.  Bring yarn from your stash that you no longer plan to use and there is enough that someone could crochet something with it.

Yarn Bracelets
Learn how to make the bracelets that Marge showed off at the January meeting.

Supplies to bring to meeting:
For the program, you will need minimum of 10 yards of yarn to make a bracelet, and a crochet hook of appropriate size for your yarn.

This is a great way to use up those yarn scraps that you don't want to throw away, but don't know what you can make with them.

Rolling Meadows Library Display - Bring your crocheted finest to show off in the display case on the first floor of the Rolling Meadows Library (located near the elevators).   Space is limited - think small but beautiful.

Crochet Buffet March 25 2017

Crochet Buffet - 10 AM to 2 PM
Chapter members will demonstrate a variety of crochet techniques, and will display completed projects. This event is free and open to the public.  This is a great way to showcase what our chapter is all about, and to share our enthusiasm about crochet.

Spread the word - Download the Crochet Buffet poster, make copies, and take to your local yarn shop, church, library, coffee shop, etc. Invite the crocheters you meet to attend.

Joining and Assembly, and Making a Magic Ball

Val will teach us various techniques we can use to join the 7-inch by 9-inch rectangles for Warm Up America blankets.  Amanda will show us how to make a Magic Ball out of assorted yarn scraps.

About the 2017 Warm Up America Chapter Challenge

National CGOA has brought back the Chapter Challenge. Local chapters will compete to see who can make the most 7-inch by 9-inch rectangles for Warm Up America.  First, second and third place winners will be calculated by figuring the ratio of rectangles made to the number of chapter members.

The rectangles need to be 7" x 9" and made out of acrylic yarn.  Please add a single crochet border so that it will be easier to join the rectangles.  B.J. Licko-Keel has generously shared her Granny Rectangle pattern for those who want to use it for their Warm Up America blocks. You may want to "join as you go" and join the rectangles as you add the single crochet border. This join-as-you-go diagram shows two different methods.
